At BuddyRise we take our obligation to protect your privacy seriously. That is why we provide you with this 2-minute summary containing the key information on how we process your Personal Data.

What you should know

• You remain in control of your data. You can request access, correction, deletion, and a copy of your data (see Article 5).

• BuddyRise includes an AI feature (“Buddy”). Buddy helps you reflect on your logs and questions by providing supportive, educational insights. Buddy does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment. Buddy is not a medical professional and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Do not use BuddyRise for emergency situations. If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.

• Anonymised research insights (future): We may create anonymised/aggregated insights from Website/App data and may share or license non-identifiable outputs for research collaborations. If data would not be truly anonymised, we will ask for separate explicit consent.

• When you use Buddy, we may process certain information you provide (including health-related data). We apply data minimization and use trusted service providers under strict contractual safeguards.

To whom does this Privacy Notice apply?

This notice applies to any individual whose Personal Data we may collect, use or otherwise process, and more specifically:

• Visitors and users of the BuddyRise Website (“Visitors”);

• (Representatives of) business partners (“Business Partners”);

• (Representatives of) suppliers and professional advisors (“Suppliers”);

• Applicants (“Applicants”);

• People that have an autoimmune disease and use the Application (“Autoimmune Buddies”);

• People that are related to an Autoimmune Buddy and use the Application (“Loved Ones”);

• People that join the BuddyRise community and do not fall under the categories above (“Other Buddies”);

• All other persons from whom BuddyRise may process Personal Data (“Other Persons”).

What information do we collect about you?

When visiting and/or using the Website:

• If you contact us or enter into a contract with us as a (prospective) business partner or supplier: contact data, contractual data, and financial data (where applicable).

• If you apply for a position: identification details and recruitment materials (CV, cover letter).

• If you contact us through any medium: communication content and technical data.

• If you fill in the contact form: the information you provide to follow up.

• Information about how you make use of our Website (e.g., via cookies — see Article 8).

When using the BuddyRise Application:

• General account data (e.g., login details and profile basics);

• Additional profile data you choose to provide (e.g., condition context);

• Health & lifestyle logs (including symptoms/energy/mood, sleep, stress, movement, hydration), and food photos you choose to upload for analysis;

• Optional wearable data (when you connect a wearable / health service);

• Buddy chat messages (free-text), which may include sensitive personal information, and Buddy’s responses(guidance/insights).
  We may also create structured “context tags” from chat (e.g., symptoms, energy, mood, triggers) to improve personalization over time.

• Technical and usage data about how you use the Application (for security, debugging, and improvement).

Why do we collect this information?

• To respond to your communication and assure follow-up;

• To establish and/or maintain our contractual relationships and business operations;

• To evaluate job applications;

• To provide access to the Application via a personal user profile;

• To offer an optimal use of the Application and its features (including Buddy);

• To provide supportive, educational insights based on your logs and questions;

• To improve our services, provide technical support, and ensure the functionality and security of our Website and Application.

Who has access to your data?

• Only the relevant part of our team has access to the information you provide, on a need-to-know basis.

• We use trusted suppliers and service providers (e.g., hosting, security, analytics, and AI processing providers) who are legally bound to protect your data and only process it under our instructions and, where required, a data processing agreement.

What do you control? 

At any moment, you can delete your profile and data, and or request to modify, erase or get a copy of your data. To do so, please follow the procedure described in our full Privacy Notice under Article 5.

What do we do to protect your data?

• We adopted appropriate technical and organizational security measures.

• If you reside in the European Economic Area, your data is stored on high-security servers within the European Union. If you are not residing in the EEA, your data is stored on servers in the United States of America.

• Please note: certain service providers (including AI processing providers used for Buddy) may process data outside your country of residence; where required, we implement appropriate safeguards.

• We have internal procedures to ensure confidentiality and responsible management of our IT infrastructure.
